Alcohol & Smoking Policy
ALL USERS OF THE SYL APPS COMMUNITY CENTRE, PARKS, AND ATHLETIC FIELDS
This is written notice that the County of Brant has in place a policy that prohibits the presence and/or consumption of alcohol in or on any of the above municipal owned properties. These properties include the Syl Apps Community Centre and its outside grounds, all parks and athletic fields within the Paris Service Area. We do not want alcohol in our buildings or parks, except when consumed under the appropriate permit, and will not tolerate its presence.
The total ban on the illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages in the recreation field is a widely accepted practice, and in our opinion is the only acceptable position for the municipality to take.
It is part of the staff’s responsibilities to report any conduct that is not appropriate, whether it be alcohol infractions, agreement violations or the conduct of participants or spectators.
It is part of the management’s responsibilities to also carry out the above duties, along with enforcing rules or policies in regards to inappropriate conduct of participants and spectators.
Therefore, any team, league, user group and/or person who is found to have alcohol in or on County of Brant, Paris Service Area Recreational property before, during, or after their usage time will have the appropriate penalties brought against them. Furthermore, any penalties that are brought against your team or organization may be carried over to the next season.
The penalties for alcohol and/or smoking infractions are as follows:
1st infraction – two-week suspension from use of any County of Brant facility
2nd infraction – one-year suspension from use of any County of Brant facility
We want everyone to enjoy our facilities. The illegal consumption of alcohol cannot be ignored because SAFETY, LIABILITY, AND FACILITY CLEANLINESS are dependant on the proper control of alcohol in public facilities.
It is your responsibility to inform you teammates, visiting team(s), and spectators of these policies.
Furthermore, for your information, all buildings and/or enclosures are “smoke free” areas and will be enforced as outlined above.
Thanking you in advance for your cooperation.
Although this policy is clearly related to County of Brant fields, the Soccer Club would like to enforce same policy at the WIFO fields. The only exception being adults within the confines of the licensed Club House on those nights that adult leagues are operating. Thank you.
